Fresh Funds:

Keller Farmers Market has created the Fresh Funds program to further the ability of our SNAP recipients to eat healthy and get the most out of their fresh food dollars. Every week at the KFM information booth SNAP recipients may receive a dollar-to-dollar match of their SNAP benefits, up to $10 per week per family, to be spent at KFM. This program has limited funds.

As with SNAP benefits, Fresh Funds may be used to purchase fruit, vegetables, meat, bread, cheese and baked goods, as well as seeds and edible plant starts. Fresh Funds may not be used for alcohol, tobacco or pet products.

Fresh Funds first serves the individual or family by providing fresh food, then puts money in the pocket of a local farmer or food producer.

To access matching funds:

  • go to the Information Booth at the market,
  • use your SNAP/Lone Star card,
  • receive matching funds (up to $10 per week per family) to be spent at the market.

Lone Star Card

The market accepts state issued Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, the electronic delivery method for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), known as the Lone Star Card in Texas.

SNAP, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, is a federally funded program which delivers monthly nutrition benefits to over 40 million Americans nationwide, 3.5 million in Texas. Eligible items include fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy products, baked goods, jams and jellies and honey. The purchase of vegetable plants and potted herbs is also acceptable.
